about

RACCA Trio is an avant-garde jazz outfit from Wyoming and Colorado. Ron Coulter, Matt Smiley and Alex Nauman are three diverse and accomplished musicians most comfortable exploring the unknown. In their first release they are joined by the great Hugh Ragin, best known for being part of the Art Ensemble of Chicago.

The Great Expanse is a meditation on open space and limitless possibilities as well as a tribute to the power of spontaneous improvisation in the hands of proficient instrumentalists who are also adroit listeners. Together they craft sounds that spur the imagination. Sit back and let this quartet take you on a journey through a mindfield as vast as the sky over the Rocky Mountain foothills.
